Q: What if
I have a student registering for both MS and HS classes?
A: Fill
out both a MS and a HS Registration Form for that child indicating
the appropriate classes
Q: What if I have a 6th grader who
doesn’t
want to take all of the 6th grade classes. Can he take any of the
other MS classes?
A: With permission
of the teacher and MS Coordinator, a 6th grader may register for
other MS classes. Permission MUST be received prior to registration
and indicated on the registration form with the MS Coordinator
signature. At registration, the 6th grader will be put on the waiting
list for the requested class until all 7th and 8th graders have
registered since they are given priority. A second choice class
MUST be indicated on the registration form.
Q: Do I have to pay anything if my
child is put on the waiting list?
A: No, if a spot opens for your
child, you will pay then.
Q: If I am a new member, what are
my chances of getting in the classes I want?
A: We have no way of
knowing the likelihood of getting in any particular class. We take
registrations on a first-come basis. We will open waiting lists for
any full classes. Historically, students on the spring waiting lists
are often offered spots before fall but, obviously, there is no guarantee.
Q: What is the structure of the elementary
program?
A: Registering
for our co-op would be for a full school year, with 11 co-op days
in the fall, and 11 in the spring. The elementary classes meet
on Mondays, from 10:00 - 2:30pm.
Our K4, K5
and 1st grade classes are each self contained. This means that
from 10:00 - 2:30 they are with the same teacher and stay together
as a group. The class description for each of these classes can
be found here.
(They have a lunch break of course as well). In terms of registering
for one of these 3 age levels, you would just register for K4,
K5 or 1st grade... there are no separate classes to select
(aside from a possible early hour class, listed below).
The 2nd-5th
graders rotate through 4 different classes during the day from
10:00 - 2:30pm... with each class being approximately 50 minutes
long with a lunch break in between. These 4 classes come as an
elementary "package" and
cannot be separated.
From 9am-10am
there are several classes which we call, "elementary early
hour classes". These also can
be found here,
with the ages these classes are for. Each of these early hour
classes are considered "supplemental" to
our co-op, and are not part of the elementary "package".
Elementary students do not have to come at 9am, and can opt to
just do the regular co-op day from 10:00-2:30pm each Monday. Enrollment
for these is open only to those who are enrolled in one of the
elementary class programs (K4-5th).
